OUR STORY

Colonial Designs began in 1951 as a full-service florist founded by Maurice and Anne Brotzge at the corner of 38th and Broadway in Louisville, Kentucky. There, the couple arranged flowers in the front of the building and had their home in the back.

In 1963, the business was moved to its current location on Lexington Road in the heart of St. Matthews. It was at this point that they began to expand their offerings beyond flowers, over time becoming a popular destination for home decor, unique gifts, and women’s fashion.

Today, daughter Terry Dayton + granddaughter Amy Moyer continue to run Colonial Designs together. While flowers are no longer part of the business, the foundation the family laid combined with the pair’s entrepreneurial spirit have allowed it to remain a longtime local staple for many.
